Sean A. Sanders
What did you want to become when you were a child?
A professional rugby/football player, actually just a great sportsman.
How did your friends/family react when you told them you wanted to be a model?
I never really wanted to become a model, it kind of just happened. But all my friends were generally hugely supportive & took a interest in what I was doing.
How long have you been modelling for?
Three and a half years now.
What has been your greatest accomplishment so far:
A few magazine covers (Men's Health & Runners World)
Who inspires you in the industry?
I don't really have any inspiration in the fashion industry. A person is a person, & I look for what's under the clothes :P
What aspects of your job do you like best/least?
Best - I love the travel & meeting new people
Worst - I cannot stand not using my brain for day to day activities.
Describe your style in terms of fashion:
My style fluctuates between a variety of boots, leather jackets, tops & jeans. I like something a little more rough, easy going & comfortable.
What makes you happy?
The simple things! I keep getting reminded of this more & more as I grow up. Quality time with friends, health, good company, family etc.
What brings you the greatest satisfaction?
Achieving what I set my mind to! Climbing my ladder of aspirations is my muse.
What is your favourite song at the moment, and of all time?
Ah please, there's only one song for everyone haha, Eminem- Lose Yourself. Yeah keeping it gangster!
What is the something you wish you knew when you were younger?
That growing up is overrated.
What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
Describe yourself in five words:
Dedicated, Risky, Honest, Logical, Passionate
Name 2 things people don't know about you:
I love to stay at home & be a grandpa, generally over going out & partying. Everyone seems to know me as the guy who is out & about.
I'm a huge tea fundi! I love my tea!
What is your motto?
"Never stand begging for that which you have the power to earn."
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I would definitely say working for myself & doing modelling on the very odd occasion. I have always been very entrepreneurial and want to build something that I have a bit more control over as you cannot control too much of your model life; I mean you are who you are, you cannot change your appearance.
Any advice for men wanting to become models?
I always say approach a bunch of agencies & if one/few take an interest in you then pursue it. If they believe they can make some moola working with you then you will make money- it's just how the business model works.
Any last words?
I think modeling is not for the faint hearted; you will be criticised & judged for traits you cannot change. Your career & success will generally be out of your control, & your travelling buddy will mostly be your phone.
But for every difficult moment, you will be offered 10x more amazing ones. Meeting incredibly beautiful people (inside & out), getting more event invitations than you could ever attend, working in the most beautiful locations & getting paid an average Joe's months salary for a days work, make it a job & a lifestyle that is truly unforgettable.
I treat my modeling career as a journey, work is still to come.
