What did you want to become when you were a child?
Ever since I went over to England to play in a soccer tournament when I was 12 years old, I have always wanted to be a professional soccer player.
How long have you been playing soccer for?
I have been playing soccer since I was four years old and am currently in my seventh year as a professional.
How did your friends/family react when you told them you wanted to become a professional soccer player? Since I was 12 years old when I decided that I wanted to be a professional soccer player, most of my friends were pretty skeptical. My family, however, has always been 100% supportive of me in whatever I have wanted to do.
Why do you think soccer hasn't caught on in America as much as it does in Europe?
First of all, soccer is such a new sport in America whenever you compare to how long the rest of the world has been playing it. Second, there are many more mainstream sports for children to grow up following in America then the rest of the world. Soccer in America has to compete with the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB, to name a few.
You also model, how did that come about?
I was at the LAX airport on my way to a game with the team when an older woman sitting across from me made a comment towards me about how nice my legs were. As creepy as it was at the time, we ended up talking, and she told me that I would do really well with modeling. I was completely skeptical, thinking that this must happen all the time in LA, but when she got a hold of me after my trip back, each of the modeling agencies she linked me up with wanted to sign me, and everything took off from there.
What has been your greatest accomplishment so far?
Obtaining my childhood dream of becoming a professional soccer player and the starting keeper for my current team.
Who inspires you?
My father. He has taught me so much and was the man that instilled the morals and values that I live by.
What aspects of your job do you like best / least?
I love the fact that I get to play the game that I love day in and day out. I get to travel to amazing places and play with and against great players. The thing I like the least is probably the actual traveling part of it. Most of our travel days are around 12 hours long.
