Jacob W. Young
All My Children, General Hospital, The Bold & The Beautiful
What did you want to become when you were a child?
I wanted to entertain, in some sense of the word. I used to dress up and dance for anyone who would watch or do impressions.
How did your friends/family react when you told them you wanted to become an actor?
My mom was supportive of me, my dad didn't no what to think of it. Friends didn't exactly believe I could do it.
Who inspires you in the industry?
I have so many people who inspire me currently and from the past. I find my inspiration in people who carve out careeres. I'm a huge fan of Tom Hardy's career.
Fans & critics alike seem to adore Maya & Rick as a couple (they were named "Couple of the Year" by quite a few publications), the support must mean quite a big deal to you & Karla;
We entered into this storyline not knowing what to expect. So we decided we needed to put our full hearts into it and hope that the response would be postive. We were both pleasantly suprised and excited by the fans' response. It means a great deal to the both of us.
What do you hope the show hopes to achieve with this beautiful/groundbreaking storyline?
I know they always would like to create more awareness and openess from any of their poignant stories.
What aspects of your job do you like best/least?
I love the fact that everyday is like a new play a new adventure. The downside is so much dialogue, it can make your head hurt ;)
(In life) Were you ever bullied? What were/are some of your coping mechanism? Yes I was, I grew up in a small town and not a lot of young men were involved in musical theater and choir etc. I dressed different from the norm. So other boys threatened to beat me up daily. I didn't have much of a coping mechanism other than secretly cry a lot.
How do you bounce back from a defeat?
The defeat is always hard, but if you look at it like you have learned something and you can do it better it's easy to get back up and try again.
What are some of your favorite books?
I read a lot of plays, of course scripts as well. Being a full time dad I have not had as much time for books lately.
What brings you the greatest joy?
Seeing my family happy.
What is the one thing you wish you knew when you were younger?
That it's tough in the world, we have to find a way/energy to work hard for another day.
What is your biggest guilty pleasure?
I love good beer.
Describe yourself in 5 words:
Hard working, critical of myself, serious, loving, nurturing
What do you most value in people?
Name something people don't know about you:
I'm secretly very insecure
What is your motto?
Keep trying, your bound to get it right.
What is one thing you wish to achieve in 2016?
To just continue to become more well rounded as a person.
Any advice for those wanting to become actors?
You can do it, if you want it, you'll achieve it!
Any last words?
Believe in yourself because so many others already believe in you.
