RICKY J. WHITTLE
When you were a child, what did you dream of becoming when you grew up?
When I grew up things were very different I feel.
When I grew up kids wanted to be lawyers, doctors, teachers, they had real dreams to become something and make something of them selves. I feel nowadays kids just want to be famous when they grow up which is a shame, at least attach it to something like; a famous sports person, politician, professional, someone with a talent or purpose...but that's the world we live in at present I guess.
So for me I wanted to be a lawyer first ,then realized I had potential as a footballer and drifted towards that.
After getting injured several times I ended up studying law at university so I guess that was always in my mind.
How did your friends/family react when you told them you wanted to be a actor?
I fell into acting. I was in University studying Law. I was modeling to pay for books and tuition when my agent put me forward for a sports drama called "Dream Team". I looked the part and gave it my best in the audition, they saw potential and offered a two year contract. My friends and family both supported me as it was instant work, I didn't have to go to audition after audition, I was going straight into television so pushed my to ride the wave...
How long have you been acting for?
About ten years now
What has been your greatest accomplishment so far:
In acting it's getting to work toe to toe with various idols of mine that I used to watch in the uk growing up; Jennifer Coolidge & Kerry Russell in "Austenland", Isaiah Washington & Henry Ian Cuisak in "The 100", "Mistresses", "NCIS".
In life, it's staying true to myself in a fickle, harsh, two faced world.
